Intern information and interviews Saturday January 31, 2009 from 10am-3pm at our production studio
located at 10 Krog St. Atlanta 30307. All interviews and studio tours start every hour, on the hour.
Does production, post production, and broadcast engineering get your creative juices flowing? Are you looking for those practical experiences and networking opportunities needed to jump start your career? Then CEN Productions and Tim Barrett Designs is the place for you!
Our interns get real-world, “hands-on” experience with our production studios, editorial suites, and fabrication equipment. The internship program provides its interns the opportunity to interface with clientele – a daily reality for our staff – along with learning from and working alongside seasoned, talented personnel. With five departments within the company to choose from – marketing, photography, production management, video production and post production – interns also will have a chance to put their skills to the test, as they work on short- and long-term assignments.
The internship is unpaid, but interns may receive school credit if applicable. Past production experience is not necessary. A minimum of three months/ two full days per week is required. We request at least 2 full days a week from approx. 9am to 5pm. Must commit to working 15-20 hours a week including nights and weekends when applicable.
All scheduling, administrative, marketing and production interns must have good computer (Microsoft Office), writing, speaking and phone skills; while IT interns must have basic skills in both Macintosh and Windows platforms to assist with classroom set-up and helping to maintain our office and classroom systems.
What do students do on the Program?
· Informational lectures and meetings: Students have one-on-one meetings with directors, cameraman, scriptwriters, producers and actors. They get to interact with industry professionals in their own environment. This gives students an understanding of the processes and people involved in the making of a film, including production, direction, post production, finance, and distribution.
· Attend Shoots: Students spend a few days on a film set to get a behind-the-scenes view into the world of set designers, prop houses, casting directors, production executives, action directors, stunt masters, make-up artistes, fashion designers, lighting men, spot boys, music directors and other cast and crew.
· Post Production: Students also visit post production studios to see editing, color correction, visual effects, audio post, background music and song recordings.
· Student Project:All students have to work on and submit a project. This project is designed in consultation with the Production Manager keeping in mind the students' individual interests and skills. The project usually takes a week to ten days to complete and ensures that the student is not merely a passive observer but an active participant. This project will deepen the students' learning and help them reflect on their 12 week experience
The program is a great way to see the industry first hand through its professionals and work environments. The program emphasizes the inner workings and logistics of the film industry in Atlanta and incorporates meetings with film professionals, visits to film shoots, post production studios and hands on student projects.
